We understand that the prospect of surgery can create stress for our pediatric patients and their parents. The staff at Methodist McKinney strives to accommodate the unique needs of this age group. In order to make this process as easy as possible, we encourage parents to dress their child in a two-piece outfit and bring along any comfort items such as a pacifier, blanket, or stuffed animal. Your child may take these items to the operating room for comfort and have them following surgery.

Pediatric ProgramParents of pediatric patients are required to stay in the building the entire time the child is in the facility, including the time in the operating room. Parents and family members are not allowed in the operating room or post-anesthesia care unit. However, parents are welcome to stay with their child until they are taken back to surgery. Medical staff will reunite parents with their child as soon as they are in stable condition.

Upon discharge, children must be secured in an age-appropriate car seat for transport.
